A former aide of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari on ways to quickly resolve the ongoing strike of the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria.
Recall that the university lecturers have been on strike since February 14, 2022 and extended it on Monday indefinitely.
The leadership, led by the President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said the demands of the lecturers were yet to be met.
Commenting on the development in a series of tweets on his Twitter handle, Omokri said that Buhari could meet the funding demands of the striking teachers by selling eight out of the aircraft in the presidential fleet.
He said while 210 million Nigerians do not have a national airline, 10 jets were serving Buhari.
He added that if the President fails to meet the demands of ASUU, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar, would, once elected.
Omokri tweeted: “Nigeria has no national airline to serve 210 million people.
“But we have 10 Presidential jets to serve 1 President.
“No be juju be that?
“That is why ASUU is adamant.
“Money is not our problem.
“Our issue is how we spend the little money we have!
“Atiku will change that!
“How much is ASUU asking for?
“Less than $100 million to fund universities.
“Buhari has 10 Presidential jets worth over $200 million.
“Why not sell 8 and use the money for ASUU?
“The British PM does not have an official jet.
“These are the kinds of things Atiku would do!”
