Niger state Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu on Thursday described the death of Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta as sad and a big loss to the state and Nigeria.
Aliyu who made his position known in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Mr. Israel Ebije said the late Senator would sadly add to the number of prominent sons and daughters of Nigeria who died just within the space of one month.
According to him “Let me express with deep sense of loss the death of Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta. For me, it’s a personal loss. The late senator was a brother and a friend. For Niger state and Nigeria as a country, he would be missed in the area of positive contributions on issues at the National Assembly.”
The late senator was born 4th of June 1949. He died at the age of 64. He was a seasoned politician, administrator whose service to Niger state and Nigeria span over 30 years.
He was elected into the Niger state House of Assembly in 1983 as a member. He was also a member of the House of Representative in 1993. He was appointed Deputy Director Admin at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) headquarters in 1998.
In 1999, he was appointed Secretary to State Government (SSG) by the Engineer Abdulkadir Kure led administration. He started his civil service career in North –western states and in 1978 was Secretary sports council Niger state for 3 years before joining politics.
According to a family member he died in Lagos on his way to London for medical treatment and his corps is expected for burial by 4pm in Minna Niger state Thursday. The late senator was survived by his wife and children.
