Leading telecommunications company, Globacom, has unveiled a unique partnership with league clubs in Nigeria, beginning with Kano Pillars Football Club, champions of the Nigeria Premier League in the 2012/2013 season.
Presenting Glo special SIMs and recharge cards branded in the colours and logo of Kano Pillars Football Club in Kano on Friday, the National Sales Coordinator, Globacom, Ibrahim Fadipe, stated that the event marks another milestone in Globacom’s relationship with the Nigerian Premier League clubs.
Fadipe said the partnership with Kano Pillars serves as the pilot project, adding that Globacom has concluded plans to extend the initiative to other clubs in the Nigerian Premier League.
Fadipe stated that Globacom’s sponsorship of the Nigeria Premier League, which started in 2003, is borne more out of patriotic zeal than a business strategy, adding that the company is firmly rooted in its commitment to contribute to the development of the country’s football at all levels.
Fadipe said: “As part of the commitment, Globacom and Kano Pillars recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding on a new partnership aimed at stimulating football fans to troop en masse to the stadia to watch Kano Pillars’ matches as well as promote the commercial interest of both organisations.”
Fadipe said that the partnership between Globacom and Kano Pillars will open a new vista in the relationship between a football club and its sponsors, thus creating a new door of opportunities for stakeholders to expand their business frontiers.
The Glo representative therefore called on all supporters and friends of Kano Pillars to subscribe to this package, which will give them a special privilege of making calls to all networks in Nigeria at just 12 kobo per second.
Fadipe noted that a promo is being launched to popularise the new initiative and to encourage fans of Kano Pillars and the good people of Kano to enjoy the partnership between Glo and their darling club.
In the promo, any Kano Pillars fan and other football lovers who purchase a Kano Pillars special SIM and recharge card will win different gifts weekly.
With a purchase of N1,000 worth of recharge card, they stand a chance to win N100,000 cash, while any subscriber who buys N500 recharge card will have a chance to win N50,000 cash.
Similarly, any subscriber who buys N200 recharge card can win a cash prize of N20,000.
Earlier in his speech, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Kwakwanso, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Ganduje, commended Globacom’s giant strides in the development of football in Nigeria, adding that the company‘s partnership with Nigerian clubs, which commenced with Kano Pillars FC, will be of immense benefit to the clubs.
Kwankwaso called on other corporate entities in the country to emulate the good works of Globacom, which he said will help to uplift Nigerian football to the highest level.
