The Chairman of Giwa FC, Ambassador Chris Giwa, has emerged the new president of the Nigeria Football Federation in a parallel congress/elections held at the Chida Hotel, Abuja on Wednesday.
Chief Obinna Ogba emerged the first vice president, while Chief Mike Umeh staged a walkout to protest the emergence of Giwa.
The NFF’s General Secretary, Barrister Musa Amadu, was released by the Department of State Service to take charge of the the proceedings of the congress.
Amadu arrived the venue of the congress in company with the Minister of Sports and the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, who allegedly secured his release from the DSS.
Although Amadu was escorted to the venue of the congress by some security operatives, he was not looking ruffled throughout the duration of the speech delivered by Danagogo.
Meanwhile, the majority of the States Football Association Chairmen and their secretaries have already filled the attendance register to stage a walkout from the venue of the congress to protest the arrest of the embattled Chairman of the NFF, Alhaji Aminu Maigari.
Storming out en masse, the loyal States FA delegates allegedly headed to the headquarters of the DSS to show loyalty to the arrested erstwhile president until they were ordered to return to the congress venue to continue to the meeting.
The protesting FA Chairmen and their secretaries, numbering 35, however incurred the wrath of the security agents when they decided to continue the meeting on the road instead of returning to the venue.
