A 24-year-old gardener, Adamu Ibrahim, who allegedly conspired with others to steal amoured cables worth N5.6 million, on Thursday appeared before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is charged with conspiracy, damage to property and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, submitted that the defendant and others still at large committed the offences on Oct. 2, at No 7, Imam Dauda St., Off Eric Moore Road, Surulere, Lagos.
Ekhueorohan alleged that the defendant stole armoured cables installed at different places in the premises while working as a gardener.
The prosecutor told the court that the property belonged to the complainant, Tasi Gbajumo.
He also alleged that the defendant and his accomplices willfully damaged the property.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 87, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, M. I. Dan-Oni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 16 for trial.
