The newly elected executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has appointed a former Chairman of the Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, to head its peace and reconciliation committee.
In a communiqué made available on Wednesday at the end of the committee’s meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, the board said it was determined to find a lasting and peaceful resolution among all concerned.
“In line with the determination to ensure quick and total reconciliation of the Nigeria football family following three months of crises, the Committee set up a Peace and Reconciliation Committee to be headed by former NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima,” the communique stated.
While expressing deep appreciation to the Federal Government, the National Sports Commission, FIFA, CAF and various organizations and well-meaning individuals who contributed to the success of the NFF Elective Congress of September 30, 2014 in Warri, Delta State and the processes leading thereunto, the committee, led by the President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, pledged to run a transparent and accountable administration.
In an effort to ensure diligence and probity and the desire to woo more partners/sponsors, the Committee unanimously agreed to contract a top financial advisory firm to assist in seeking support from Corporate Nigeria, to move the country’s football forward.
It also adopted a proposal by a joint meeting of the League Management Company and owners of the 20 Premier League Club of September 6, 2014 to the effect that henceforth, the League Management Company shall have seven directors to be appointed by a Selection Committee.
The Selection Committee shall be made up of five persons: two members of the outgoing LMC Board, two persons representing the 20 Premier League Clubs and one representative of the NFF.
The seven directors of the LMC shall be composed of: an independent Chairman, two independent Members, three representatives of the 20 Premier League Clubs and a Chief Executive Officer.
