The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has vowed that the 8th Senate would not allow anti-people policies to go unchecked.
Saraki spoke against the backdrop of the motion on power, which was debated on the floor of the Senate before recess.
The Senate President on his Twitter handle said the Senate would continue to represent the interest of Nigerians, regardless of whose ox is gored.
Saraki tweeted: “Motion on power should be a signal to other regulatory bodies that the 8th Senate will not allow anti-people policies to go unchecked
“The 8th Senate will continue to represent the best interest of Nigerians, regardless of whose ox is gored power.
“The 8th Senate will open a direct channel with Nigerians. Everyone must take advantage by contacting their Senators for oversight of agencies If there are similar cases like that of power kindly engage your Senators by bringing it to our attention so we can better represent you
“I made a promise that 8th Senate will be a different Senate. This will be your Senate with your support and prayers we will not be distracted! Although the 8th Senate has had some distractions, we have hit the ground running. When we return Nigerians can expect more oversight action.”
