The First lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Saturday called on
politicians in Rivers State to unite to move the state forward.
Jonathan made the call in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital,
when she visited a former Governor of the state, Chief Celestine
Omehia.
Jonathan said that with unity, “we can move the state forward”.
She added: “I’m glad to be home and I thank you all for the warm welcome.
“However, I want to plead that we all come together and work in
harmony so that we can touch lives.
“Let us unite and work together in the interest of the people and the
entire region.”
Earlier, Omehia had lauded efforts of the first lady and pledged
support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda.
He said: “We’re proud to have our sister and daughter home where she
was raised and groomed for service to the country, this task she has
performed creditably.
“We assure you of our total support to President Jonathan’s
transformation agenda.”
