The Super Eagles have moved up three places to the 33rd spot in the
world on the ranking of world football governing body, FIFA.
In a monthly world ranking chart that was released on Thursday from
FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, the African Champions
gathered 724 points to move up the ladder.
Meanwhile, the Stephen Keshi-lads are ranked fourth behind The
Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, who are first in Africa and 17th in the
world, while Ghana and Algeria are second and third.
The Eagles of Mali and Tunisia are fifth and sixth respectively on the continent.
The improvement of the Super Eagles on the FIFA ranking this month can be ascribed to the team’s success over the Flames of Malawi and the away win over the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.
The Super Eagles are likely to further better their lot on the chart
should beat the Antelopes in the return leg in Calabar, Cross River
State and also make appreciable impact against Jordan and the Azzuris
of Italy in friendly games next month.
