Despite efforts by the Federal Government to ensure the rate of unemployment is reduced in the country, a Federal Minister on Thursday disclosed that there are no more jobs in the country for youths.
The Minister of State for Agriculture, Hajiya Asma’u Asabe Ahmed, while speaking at the Presidential Women Rally at the Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium in Minna, said youths must learn to be independent.
Ahmed added that the Federal Government does not have jobs that can accommodate all Nigerian youths.
According to her: “Nigerian youths must make themselves relevant because the Federal Government and the private sectors do not have enough jobs.
“It is the women that stand to benefit from the new agricultural scheme that will be set up by the Federal Government.
“Niger State is among the states in the country that will produce 4,000 women for the agricultural pilot scheme for women, which will commence by April this year.
“There are no enough jobs at the Federal Government level.
“No job in Nigeria.
“It is only agriculture that can provide job.”
The Niger State Governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu, called on Nigerian women and the youths to come out and vote for the Peoples Democratic Party candidates at all levels.
Aliyu said: “We don’t want people who are too old to rule us.
“We don’t want people who are too weak.
“Come out enmasse to vote Goodluck Jonathan and Namadi Sambo for president and vote Umar Nasko for governor.
“We will not go violent.
“I know the opposition will want to provoke you because they want to by all means take power from the PDP.
“Ensure peace in the forthcoming elections.
“God knows who will be the next president and the next governor.”
Speaking also, the Niger State PDP governorship candidate, Alhaji Umar Nasko, urged Nigerlites to come out enmasse to vote the party so as to ensure continuity for better transformation.
Nasko called for a peaceful process during the general elections, adding: “Nigerlites should come out enmasse to cast their votes peaceful and shun violence.”
