FC Cincinnati has parted ways with head coach Jaap Stam and two assistant coaches, the team announced Monday. In addition to Stam, Said Bakkati and Yoann Damet were also relieved of their duties.
President Jeff Berding said that during the team’s search for a new general manager, it became apparent that a coaching change was necessary.
“We believe a change in leadership is in the best interest of the club at this time, and a new general manager will lead the search for a new head coach,” Berding said in a statement.
Cincinnati has lost six of their last seven games and is in 13th place in the Eastern Conference. The team travels to Toronto for a match on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
Tyrone Marshall, who is currently the head coach of FC Cincinnati’s U-19 and future U-23 teams, will take over as head coach on an interim basis as the search for a permanent coach gets underway.
