Fayemi mourns death of Fajuyi’s wife

The Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed regrets on the death of Eunice Ayodele Fajuyi.
Fajuyi was the wife of the first Military Governor of the defunct Western Region, the late Lieutenant Colonel Francis Adekunle Fajuyi, who was killed in the July 29, 1966 military coup.
Fayemi, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode, said although losing Mama Fajuyi at this time is painful, he is consoled that the deceased lived a fulfilled life.
The governor described Mama Fajuyi as religious, God-fearing, compassionate, generous, tolerant and selfless.
He noted that the death of the matriarch of the Fajuyi family marked another watershed in the annals of the clan, which is synonymous with sacrifice and patriotism.
The governor hailed the endurance and perseverance of the deceased, who had endured the absence of her husband for 47 years.
Fayemi also praised the late Madam Fajuyi for being a good custodian of the Fajuyi Museum, built and inaugurated by the National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
He said: “We shall all miss Mama Fajuyi’s wisecracks, sharp memory and good counsel. She conducted herself with utmost sense of humility despite having the privilege to have served as the wife of the Military Governor of the old Western Region.
“Mama lived a fulfilled life, she lived a life worthy of emulation and we should all be consoled by that.
“On behalf of the government and the good people of Ekiti State, I commiserate with the entire Fajuyi family and pray God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.”
