Falconets drub Congo DR 4-0

Falconets’ hope of qualifying for 2012 Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Japan was boosted on Saturday as the team pulled a 4-0 win against visiting DR Congo’s Leopardess at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta.

The tie is the first fixture final round of the race for the global football fiesta, with the winner takes all reverse fixture in a fortnight in Kinshasa, DR Congo.
Team Captain, Gloria Ofoegbu, edged her side forward in the 36th minute to end the first term with Nigeria leading 1-0.
On resumption of play, the goal rush started with Rivers Angels striker, Francisca Ordega, grabbing the second goal while Ebere Orji made it three at the dot of 79th minute.
Ofoegbu was online to grab the brace in the 86th minute, completing the 4-0 routing of the Central Africans.
Delta Queens attacker, Desire Oparanozie, missed a couple of clear chances but she made it up with two assists to Orji and Ofoegbu’s third and fourth goals.
The winner of the two-leg encounter will pick one of the two slots reserved for Africa at the World Cup in Japan.
