Men of the Aviation Security Department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria have arrested several suspected child traffickers this year at the Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo State.
This, according to FAAN, was due to the increased surveillance and strict profiling of passengers at the airport.
The arrest of these suspected child traffickers, a statement by FAAN on Thursday said were made on January 25, June 10, July 8 and July 9, 2015.
The statement added: “The Authority has promised not to relent in its bid to provide a safe and secure airport environment for all passengers and other airport users and hereby warns all child traffickers and other unscrupulous elements to keep away from the airports because they would not be allowed to perpetrate such nefarious activities through our airports.”
