Tottenham vs Man City
Venue: White Hart Lane
Kick off: 2:15pm
Tottenham Hotspur host Manchester City at White Hart Lane in the Premier League on Sunday (today) as both teams look to preserve their unbeaten starts to the season.
Tottenham are in form going into the game after having won their last four games in all competitions and Mauricio Pochettino will hope that his team continues their momentum.
The Argentine manager has a good record against Pep Guardiola from their days as the managers of Espanyol and Barcelona respectively.
The former got the better of the Manchester City manager in their two encounters with a draw and a win for Espanyol.
Pochettino will also have the services of Eric Dier and Danny Rose after the duo returned to training ahead of the clash against the league leaders.
Similarly, the Etihad Stadium outfit are also in good form and have a 100 per cent win record in the Premier League thus far this campaign, and are unbeaten in all competitions as well.
Guardiola’s impact has been evident right from the start of the season especially in terms of style of play that is being employed.
In his pre-match comment, Pochettino said: “Maybe we are a little behind them but our expectation in the long term is to compete with all the big clubs like Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool.
“We are building a new stadium, we have an unbelievable training ground and we want to set the principles to be a big, big club.
“Our spirit and ambition is to be one of the biggest in the world, but you need time and a normal process.”
Guardiola, speaking on Tottenham and Pochettino, opined: “I think he’s one of the best managers in the world – I enjoy watching Tottenham.
“He’s doing an amazing job… the way they play I like a lot – they’re aggressive and have a lot of quality.
“They’re proactive, not reactive.
“There are many teams who wait to see what you do and then react – they [Spurs] don’t wait to see what they’re going to do.
“They want to create their own game. That’s why I like them.”
