The lady who claimed in a video a few days ago to be the mother of Anthony Umeh, who was supposedly killed from a stray bullet fired by Nigerian soldiers at the #EndSARS protest at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos on October 20, 2020 has been described as a fraudster by some Nigerians.
The barrage of information faulting the claim of the woman, said to be based in the United Kingdom, followed a viral video in which she also said it was the victims’ friends that prevented operatives of the Nigerian Army from taking his corpse away.
Those who faulted the woman did so on two grounds: That she is not Umeh’s mother and he was not killed by soldiers at #EndSARS protest at Lekki Tollgate but in an accident.
Recall that The Eagle Online earlier reported that the yet-to-be-identified woman said Umeh’s corpse was recovered by his friends and was currently in a mortuary somewhere in Lagos.
The video, however, generated reactions as Nigerians took to their social media pages to refute the woman’s claim that Anthony was killed by the soldiers.
Here are some reactions: Okafor Chiamaka Nancy: “Please this woman is an imposter, she is not the mother of Mr Tony Umeh.”
@Ijaw Philosopher: “Tony Umeh was among the three people that had an accident on their way back from the protest before the toll gate incident, so why is this London woman alleged to be his mother claiming he was killed by the military?”
Iyke Lastborn: “This matter is so complicated, some said he died from bike accident. In short I am confused.”
The woman and those who recorded the video were yet to respond to the position as at press time.
