Retired Super Eagles’ forward, Emmanuel Emenike, has remained incommunicado since his announced his intention to quit international football.
Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, revealed that he attempted contacting the player a day after the news of his retirement emerged but has since not succeeded in exchanging correspondences with the Fenerbahce loanee.
In a preemptive action by the 2013 African Cup of Nations top goalscorer, Emenike called it quits with the Super Eagles after information was leaked to the local media that he might not be called up for the World Cup qualifiers against Swaziland.
“I have called him twice. Immediately I heard it, the first thing was that I needed to get a confirmation which I called him yesterday and I am still expecting a return call,” Oliseh hinted.
“So when I hear from him, that is when I will accept that he really has retired.”
Emenike has featured in every single game played by the national team since Oliseh took over as manager.
