Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in their hundreds on Thursday stormed the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Edo State demanding for the cancellation of the State’s governorship election.
The election was held on Wednesday.
As at the time the PDP supporters stormed the INEC office at Ikpoba Hill in Benin City, the results of the election had started trickling in.
The party’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was trailing his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress, Godwin Obaseki.
The policemen at the INEC office, however, reacted swiftly.
They dispersed the protesters with the use of teargas.
The announcement of the results was ongoing as at press time.
