Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has debunked rumour of purchasing or cloning of Permanent Voter Cards by an aspirant in the upcoming governorship election in the state.
Oshiomhole described the accusation as a “fallacy”.
Oshiomhole told newsmen after casting his vote at All Progressives Congress governorship primaries at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday that such PVC racketing was not possible, given measures put in place.
He said it was part of the diversionary and antics usually recorded in any electoral process.
The governor promised that the primaries and the main election coming up on September 10 in the state would be transparent, fair and credible.
Before the commencement of polling in the primary, the Chairman of the Committee handling the exercise, Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State, had announced that voting would be thump-printing against photograph of the aspirants.
Masari dissuaded delegates against taking photograph of their voting card, saying: “The interest of Edo should be the driving motive of those who want to be at the driving seat of the state.
“Whoever emerges winner of the primaries will need the other aspirants’ support to face candidates of the other parties, hence there will be no loser at the end of the day.”
