Ebola: Call to worship with Bob Fitts postponed

A musical concert, tagged: Call to worship, put together by Love’s Domain Family Assembly in Akure, Ondo State, has been postponed.
The postponement of the concert, earlier scheduled for October 12 at the Government Arcade, Akure, was as a result of the two months ban placed on large gatherings by the Ondo State Government following the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country.
The concert would have featured renowned international gospel artist, Bob Fitts.
Commenting on the development, the organisers of the concert, the Love’s Domain Family Assembly, said it was in consonance with the order by the state government to “suspend large religious and festival gatherings that may involve people from different parts of the state or the country to prevent the spread of the ebola virus”.
The Senior Pastor of the church, Pastor Banji Oladipo, said the announcement, made on the state’s radio and television, was to “ensure that people comply with this information to keep Ondo State safe from the virus”.
Oladipo said the church spoke with the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ondo State chapter, Bishop Joshua Ketiku of Christ-Like Assemblies, who confirmed that the ban on large gathering would last for two months in the first instance.
He added: “As law abiding citizens and a responsible organisation, the Board of Trustee and Pastorate of Love’s Domain Family Assembly deem it fit to help the government in curbing this pestilence ravaging our land.
“We feel so sorry for not being able to hold this programme at the scheduled time as we are aware that several people are looking forward to this great concert as this would have been the maiden edition in Ondo State.
“We appreciate the people who have given towards this programme and we promise to make another announcement as soon as possible on the new date for the concert.
“We are certain this postponement will enable us plan a bigger and better one by the time this evil is cleansed completely from our land.
“The church will keep marching on and the gates of hell cannot prevail against it.”
The concert is not the only religious gathering affected by the ban.
The Foursquare Gospel Church Convention, which would have been held alongside the dedication of the church’s auditorium in Ondo State, and a crusade of the Lord’s Chosen Church were also cancelled for the same reason.
Oladipo said as soon as the ban on large gathering is lifted and Fitts confirms another date, the concert would be held.
