Eagles vs Malawi: Gaiya predicts 3-0 victory for Eagles

The Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Godfrey Gaiya, has tipped the Super Eagles to spank the Flames of Malawi 3-0 in the 2014 World Cup match slated for the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar, Cross River State on September 7, 2013.
Gaiya said in Abuja on Thursday: “Nigeria will spank Malawi 3-0 to sail through to the next round of the qualifiers.
“The team has the capacity to run over Malawi but the visitors must not be treated with kid gloves.
“The Flames, as they are called, had done well to get to this stage of the qualifiers and won’t just give in until the final whistle of the match.
“But with the caliber of players in the Eagles, the Nigerian team can deliver the goods any time, any day.
“Nigerians generally don’t expect anything less than outright victory.
“Every Nigerian knows that the Eagles versus Malawi match is very vital to our bid to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in
Brazil.
“We need the three points from the match to be sure that we are going to qualify for the second round of the World Cup qualifiers.
“The (Eagles) is doing its best but we can never say we have the best of all teams.
“The Coach, Stephen Keshi, has been moulding this team for sometime now and he has a strong team that he can use to prosecute the Malawi match and get a good result from there.”
Gaiya, however, charged Keshi to work more on the attack line of the Eagles to be more potent in the match against Malawi.
He said: “But we still have deficiency in the scoring abilities of them team.
“Although we scored two goals in our last match against South Africa but giving a side that has potent strikers, the goals should have been more than that.
“So we hope that before September 7, 2013, we will have a strike force that can deliver by converting all their scoring chances.”
The legislator also fancied a situation where Emanuel Emenike will partner Uche Nwafor in the attack line of the Eagles in the match against Malawi.
He said: “The coach is in the best position to decide the combination of attackers that he needs to prosecute a match.
“But as a fan and ordinary football follower, I would have preferred the combination of Emenike and Nwafor for the match against Malawi.”
