Eagles are focused for Namibia match – Amadu

The Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Barrister Musa Amadu, has told The Eagle Online that the Super Eagles are focused and ready to do the nation proud again on Wednesday in Blantyre when they confront Namibia in another leg of the ongoing African qualifying series for the 2014 World Cup.
The Super Eagles won their last World Cup qualifying match against Kenya on Wednesday by a lone goal.
The match was played in Nairobi.
Amadu told The Eagle Online that the Super Eagles can only build on the success of the outing in Kenya.
He said the Coach of the team, Stephen Keshi, was also doing a good job.
He said the target of the NFF was for the Super Eagles to perform well in all matches and competitions ahead of the team.
He added that ultimately, the performance of the Super Eagles should earn the team a better standing on the FIFA monthly ranking of world teams.
Amadu said: “The boys are fully focused.
“You needed to see the excitement having won the Kenya match.
“There is a renewed vigour now in the team and they are really focused for the next game in Blantyre against Namibia on Wednesday.
“Now that we have gotten the World Cup back on track, I am confident that when we go to Blantyre, we will get another positive result to further brighten our chances of progressing in the World Cup qualifiers.
“If we win, we will be on 11 points and we would be able to qualify for the last round in October 2013.
“I don’t think we have lost any competitive match under Coach Stephen Keshi too.
“The team is consistent and it’s getting better and better by the day.
“You needed to see the way the Eagles handled the game against Kenya in Nairobi.
“You could see that this was a team that is in total control of how they play.
“I know for sure that if we keep on playing the way we are and we are able to qualify for the 2014 World Cup and also get all those victories under our belt, particularly when we go to the last stage (of the 2014 World Cup qualifier) in October this year, when we go into the final knockout stage of the qualifiers, we would be able to do well at the (FIFA) Confederation Cup, we will also be able to go into the top 20 (in FIFA rankings).
“By the end of the year, I am sure we can achieve this and maybe only Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana will be ahead of us in the rankings then and not teams like Mali.
“The Super Eagles is making progress and is improving per every match and I can tell you that the coach is doing a very good job on the team and the Nigeria Football Federation is satisfied with what Keshi is doing with the team.”
