Didier Drogba has poured encomiums on his former Chelsea teammate John Obi Mikel following his retirement.
The former Chelsea striker, who enjoyed a lot of success alongside him with the Blues congratulated him on a stellar career with an Instagram post.
“Congratulations my brother for your successful career,” Drogba said on social media.
“We’ve created great memories playing together at @chelseafc and against with @ng_supereagles.
“That Champions League final game in Munich for me was your best ever game!!!!
“All the very best with your family for your next chapters @mikel_john_obi.”
In a similar vein, Victor Moses has congratulated Mikel on his retirement.
Moses via his Twitter handle wrote; “Happy retirement to this legend.
“Great memories brother.
“Enjoy whatever is next.”
Mikel, 35, confirmed his retirement on Tuesday from professional football in a statement.
The Nigerian is best recognised for 11 years at Stamford Bridge between 2006-2017, winning 11 major trophies in Chelsea colours.
He’s also made 89 senior international caps for Nigeria.
Mikel retires an Africa Cup of Nations winner, Champions League winner and two-time Premier League winner.
