A 36-year-old driver, Busayo Adepoju, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing four tryres worth N336,000 from his employer.
Adepoju, a resident of Ibadan, is standing trial for stealing but he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Kenrich Nomayo, alleged that the defendant stole the four tyres from GPO Energy and Logistics, on July 7 at 2.00 p.m. in Ikeja.
The Magistrate, O.E. Adeola, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adeola ordered that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to Lagos State Government.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Jan. 12 for mention.
The alleged offences violate Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and attracts seven years’ jail term.
