Nollywood actor/producer turned politician, Desmond Elliot, on Monday was inaugurated as one of the lawmakers into the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Elliot, who is representing Surulere Constituency, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
He defeated Bayo Smith, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Reacting to his inauguration, Elliot thanked everyone who believed in him and voted for him on his Facebook page.
NAN reports that Elliot has starred in over 200 films and a number of television shows and soap operas.
He won the best supporting actor in a drama at the 2nd Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and was also nominated for best supporting actor at the 10th African Movie Academy Awards.
