Two notorious motorcycle armed robbers have been killed in Urhonigbe, a nearby town to Abavo, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The were escaping through the town to Edo State on their Lifan motorcycle, with registration number AGB 278 QN, when nemesis caught up with them.
Acting on information that the hoodlums have just operated in Abavo and were dodging through the Urhonigbe, operatives of the command’s Dragon Patrol Team raced after them.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, who paraded their dead bodies at the command’s headquarters in Asaba on Monday, said the hoodlums opened fire on policemen during stop and search.
Kalu said: “In the ensuing exchange of firing, one of the suspects was shot and arrested while the other escaped.
“The injured suspect however gave up the ghost on the way to the hospital.
“Later on, the Dragon team in conjunction with Abavo vigilante men, combed the bush and arrested the fleeing suspect, one Sunday Ngozi, who hails from Agbor-Obi and now battling between life and death.”
She listed the items recovered from them to include one cut-to-size locally made gun and the Lifan motorcycle.
The PPRO also hinted of how the thief who has been vandalizing the state’s House of Assembly Hilux vans was arrested.
According to Kalu, the police operatives attached to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly have since been on the trail of the thief, “but yesterday, one Chimere Chibuike, was caught in the act with nine stolen brain boxes and other tools used in committing the crime”.
