The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, Osogbo Business Hub says customers who are in doubt or feel cheated in their monthly estimated billing can contest such bills.
The company’s Communication and Branding Manager, Kikelomo Owoeye, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Osogbo on Wednesday.
This was in reaction to several complaints by electricity consumers about high tariffs, without stable power supply.
Owoeye said the company was operating an open door policy in which customers were free to lodge complaints on estimated billing that they were not sure of.
She said: “If you are given an estimated bill that you want to contest, you can bring it forward by writing a letter to us and such will be investigated.
“We have been encouraging our customers that if they have any doubt in their bills, they should come forward with proof.
“The problem with people is that people just give verbal complaints, without a written letter, and such complaints cannot be investigated.”
Owoeye, however, stressed that energy theft and illegal connections were affecting the income of the company in spite of the increase in electricity tariff.
She said any person(s) caught in the act would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
