A Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State on Thursday ordered that a unemployed man, Mustapha Abass, be remanded in a Correctional Centre for alleged murder.
The Nigeria Police charged the suspect, whose residential address was not provided, with conspiracy and murder.
Magistrate Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti did not take the plea of Abass for want in jurisdiction.
Amole-Ajimoti directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until June 15 for DPP advice.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Sergeant Philip Amusan, told the court that Abass and others at large committed the offence on March 31, 2022 at about 5am at Odo-Aro area, Oyo town.
Amusan said Abass caused the death of Oluwafemi Alabi, 30, when he cut off his right wrist.
The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 324 and 316 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
