A Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan has ordered that three accused be remanded in a correctional centre over alleged arsons.
The police had charged Isa Omotayo, 25; Isau Adebayo, 45 and Isah Usman, 30 with conspiracy, attempt to murder, murder and arson.
Magistrate I. O Osho, however did not take the plea of the three accused for want in jurisdiction. The accused were alleged to have burnt 11 houses.
Osho directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Foluke Adedosu told the court that the three men committed the offence on April 23, 2021, at about 4. p.m, in Olamoyegun village, Egbeda, Ibadan.
She said the men and others at large, burnt the houses belonging to Mr Yinusa Adamu.
She also alleged the three men also caused the death of a housewife, Fatimo Mutairu, 29.
Adedosu equally alleged that the three suspects attempted to kill a couple.
She said the offence contravened provisions under sections 324, 319, 320, 516 and 43 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
She adjourned the case until June 1, for mention.
