A Mararaba Upper Area Court, sitting in Nasarawa State on Thursday ordered that three men be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly stealing a tricycle (Keke).
The police charged Umar Mohammed, Aliyu Yahaya, and Garba Sani with criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and theft.
The judge, Abubakar Tijjani, ordered that the defendants be remanded, pending further order of the court after failing to meet their bail conditions of N1million each.
The judge adjourned the case until Aug. 11 for hearing.
They had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that complainant, Abbagana Ali reported the matter at the ‘A’ Divisional Police Station, Mararaba, Nasarawa State, on July 10.
He said that the complainant gave a brand new tricycle and gave Mohammed *first defendant) on hire purchase and warned him not to give any other person.
“However, Mohammed breached the agreement they had and conspired with Yahaya and Sani to steal the complainant’s tricycle, claiming that it was stolen by gunmen,” he said.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97, 322 and 287 of the Penal Code.
