An Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded Samuel Ibitayo, 58, in prison custody for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrate Simeon Ojo, in his ruling, remanded the accused in prison custody pending the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ojo adjourned the case to January 7 for mention.
The prosecutor, Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the accused committed the offence on December 27 at Oke Eropo-Ekiti in Emure Local Government Area.
Akinwale said the accused unlawfully had carnal knowledge of the teenager without her consent and was hospitalised.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 31(2) of the Child’s Rights Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The prosecutor said that he had duplicated the case file and sent it to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The plea of the accused was not taken.
