Couple arraigned before court for stealing N2.2m, granted bail

A couple – Daniel Idoko and Rose Idoko – have been arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, for allegedly stealing N2.2 million from a neighbour,

The defendants, aged 35 and 32, respectively, Tuesday appeared before the Magistrate, Ademola Adesanya.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Dr. Simeon Uche, told the court that the couple committed the offence in December 2021.

He alleged that the defendants stole from the complainant, also named Rose Idoko, with whom they shared accommodation on Jazz Avenue, Iba Town, Ojo.

According to the prosecutor, Daniel allegedly stole N560,000 from the complainant while Rose  stole  N1.68 million from her,  in contravention of  Section 9(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The magistrate granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

He adjourned the case until May 13 for mention
