The congregation at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja on Friday night kept on cheering for over two minutes as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the 2023 polls, Peter Obi, was introduced.
Obi was in the church, pastored by Dr. Paul Enenche, for a night of praise worship and prayer for Nigeria’s insecurity.
The monthly programme is titled: “The Judgement Praise Night with Pastor Paul Enenche.”
During the introduction of the Very Important Personalities at the programme by the Founder’s wife, Pastor Becky Enenche, Obi was one of those recognised.
As soon as his name was called, the church erupted in cheers.
Pastor Becky said: “We have with us this night, Mr. Peter Obi, who has just us tonight for this service.
“Your are welcome sir.
“We are happy to have you tonight.
“Halleluyah.”
She was not allowed to speak further, with cheers all around the auditorium as Obi stood up in recognition.
After close to two minutes of cheering non-stop and several: “Alright, Halleluya, Okay, Okay, Amen, Amen,” Pastor Becky said: “What’s going on here?
“You didn’t warn me about this.
“Okay.
“Okay.
“Alright, bring out your torchlight and let’s wave it.
“Bring out your light.
“Let’s wave our light.
“Let’s wave our light.
“Use it as a wave offering to Jesus.
“Jesus we celebrate you tonight.
“Jesus we love you.
“Ancient of days we magnify you.
“Father we give you praise.”
Among other notable personalities at the programme were Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State; Edith, wife of Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa; former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara; and South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Thami Mseleku.
When it was Obi’s turn to pray for Nigeria, he knelt down on the alter amid roaring cheers, saying: “Lord we have no other country except this one.
“God deliver us.
“God free us.
“God liberate us.
“We have no other nation except this one.
“God deliver us.”
