Officials and members of the home-based Eagles’ went on shopping spree on Sunday at the Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa on their way back to Nigeria.
The players, according to our correspondent in South Africa, paid for all the items bought at the airport in dollars as items were picked in large quantities.
While some of the players went for home appliances such as home theatre, flat screen TV, sophisticated mobile phones, others preferred clothing and give-away materials.
The Eagles however had little or no problem airlifting their purchase since the Nigeria Football Federation provided them with a chartered flight back to Nigeria.
The boys were also accorded easy passage through to the terminal as there were slight checks by the customs officers on duty at the airport.
The Eagles were heavily rewarded by the Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, after beating the Atlas Lions of Morocco in the quarterfinal and the loss they suffered in the hands of their eternal rivals, the Black Stars of Ghana, in the semi final of the competition.
