At the end of the women’s singles semi-finals in the 2018 Central Bank of Nigeria Senior Open Championships, Sarah Adegoke, defending champion, defeated Patience Onebamhoin 6-3, 6-1 to meet Christie Agugbom in the final.
The matches, which were played in Abuja, made the 40th edition of the championships more exciting to spectators as they look forward to the final on Saturday.
Adegoke, also Nigeria Tennis Federation number one seed, proved her mettle in two straight sets against the nation’s number four seed.
Similarly, the match between Agugbom, NTF’s number three seed, and Blessing Samuel ended 5-7, 7-6(4) and 6-3.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the men’s singles final of the tournament will be played on Saturday between AbdulMumuni Babalola, the defending champion, and Sylvester Emmanuel.
The competition is part of the Corporate Social Responsibilities of the CBN with the aim of developing tennis in the country.
