The Court of Arbitration for Sports on Wednesday knocked out the case of the former Nigerian International, Segun Odegbami, against the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation.
According to a statement from CAS. signed by Loiuse Reilly, councel to the body, the case was knocked out owing to the failure of the appellant to make the necessary payment for the pursuant of the case.
Odegbami, who was to contest for the presidency of the NFF, withdrew at the last minute citing some underhand tactics and thus headed to CAS to seek redress.
However, according to a letter from CAS on Wednesday, following series of reminders to Chief Odegbami to pay the appeal fees into CAS accounts, reminders which were not responded to, the case was deemed terminated by the legal body.
The letter reads: “I refer to the CAS letters of 30 August 2012, 14 September 2012, and 3 October 2012 and inform the parties that to date, the CAS Court Office did not receive the Appellant’s payment of the advance costs on its bank account within the given deadline, i. e 12 October 2012.
“Therefore, I inform the parties that the above-mentioned procedure is deemed withdrawn and a Termination Order shall follow within ten days.”
