CAN commiserates with flood disasters victims

The leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria has commiserated with victims of recent flood disasters and wanton killings across the country.
President of the association, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, expressed the concern in a statement by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, his Special Assistant on Media & Communications, on Monday in Abuja.
Ayokunle also tasked government at all levels and relevant agencies to wake up to their responsibilities of ensuring safe environment for citizens.
He said: “Rising from the National Executive Committee, the Christian umbrella body expressed its disappointment, worries, shocks and grief over the loss of lives in the country in recent years due to some unavoidable factors.
“We urge government at all levels and security agencies to revive their intelligence-gathering mechanism.”
On missing Maj.-Gen. Idris Alkali, Ayokunle wondered who was safe and secured if an Army general could be attacked and be missing for weeks now.
He, however, charged security operatives to wake up to their responsibilities and protect lives and property of all.
On the flood disasters, the CAN President warned the populace against violating environmental laws.
He called on National Emergency Management Authority and National Orientation Agency to intensify efforts in educating people on how to prevent flood in the nation.
