Kano Pillars recorded a 4-1 victory over Congolese club, AC Leopards, in the first leg, first round CAF Champions League game at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Saturday.
A first half brace from Mustapha Musa set the tone for Nigerian champions.
Pillars continued to dominate and duly got their reward eight minutes after the break when Mannir Ubale made it 3-0 to send the home supporters into jubilation.
The visiting team scored their consolatory goal in the 72nd minute through Drame Bine.
Former Heartland striker, Kabiru Umar, restored Kano Pillars’ three-goal cushion with a well-taken goal eight minutes before the end.
Kano Pillars are now at advantage to move to the next stage as AC Leopards will need to score three times without conceding in the second leg.
Head Coach of Kano Pillars, Baba Ganaru, said after the game that he is happy with the result.
