Buhari’s administration will regain its bounce, popularity – Fayemi

A former Governor of Ekiti State and Minister-designate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has promised Nigerians who have the feeling that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration was losing the goodwill it came into office with that the government would, in a matter of days, regain its bounce and popularity.
Fayemi, however, said the administration had not derailed or failed in its promises to the people but steadily confronting the challenges it met on ground.
Speaking during a question and answer session on Wednesday at a specialised session of the Excellence in Leadership Conference 2015 put together by Daystar Christian Centre, Oregun, Lagos State, Fayemi said from this point, the country can only continue to witness growth.
He said at the session, attended by the Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre, Sam Adeyemi, that the challenges met on ground by the present administration were enormous and needed to be tackled for the impact of the government to be felt.
Speaking specifically to the question on what he would do as a minister to prevent the migration of young Nigerians to Europe, especially through the Sahara Desert, Fayemi said it was obvious young people have lost faith in Nigeria.
He said it is a job for all Nigerians to ensure the youths stayed back.
He said the best way to achieve this was to make Nigeria attractive to Nigerians, adding: “We will restore the confidence of Nigerians in government.
“So many Nigerians are returning home too.
“Like Pastor Sam observed, when he is travelling out of the country, a lot of Nigerians are running out to leave the country.
“And when he is coming back, you have a lot of white people coming into Nigeria.
“This means there is something here.
“So the only mechanism to make our young people stay he is the creation of jobs, jobs, jobs.”
Fayemi equally told his audience that the quest for the restructuring of the country is not over yet.
He said there was still too much power at the centre and that instead of the Federal Government concentrating on policy and defence issues among others, it was doing what the states and local governments should be doing.
He said the citizens must not rest on their oars in demanding for good governance, adding: “There must be alternative message to those who have lost hope.”
