Senator Babafemi Ojudu on Tuesday dared the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Joseph Mbu, as he staged a peaceful protest on the platform of the #Bring back our girls at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
Mbu had on Monday chased away some protesters calling for the release of over 200 schoolgirls abducted from the Government Secondary School, Chibok in Borno State.
He said the trend is now posing serious security threat to those living around and citizens who drive through.
But Ojudu, who stormed Unity fountain with some of his aides to protest the abduction of the missing Chibok girls, said it is illegal for Mbu to ban protests in the FCT.
And just as Ojudu was staging the protest, the leadership of the #Bring back our girls campaign headed to the court to challenge Mbu’s order.
The team, led by a former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, said it was set for a legal showdown with the police.
The case is to be filed at the FCT High Court, Maitama, opposite the Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja in Abuja.
