The plenary session of the Senate has become rowdy over a motion on the redesigning of Naira by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Eagle Online recalls that the CBN had last month announced the redesigning of the Naira notes.
Trouble strated in the Red Chamber on Tuesday when some lawmakers including Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and Senator Jubril Barau demanded for the extension of the deadline by the apex bank
However Senator Bassey Akpan in his submission kicked against the extension of the mopping of old naira notes from circulation, saying many people have billions and trillions of naira in their houses and it is not good for the nation’s economy.
But Senator Olamilekan Adeola Solomon quickly tackled Senator Akpan that there is the need for the extension.
This led to the shouting match between the lawnmakers on the floor.
