The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has sacked the Director General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Daura, with immediate effect.
The notice of Daura’s sack was contained in a statement by the spokesman of the Osinbajo, Laolu Akande, on Tuesday.
The statement came shortly after Daura left the office of the Vice President.
The statement directed Daura to hand over to the most senior officer of the agency.
The statement reads in full: “The Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director General, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura with immediate effect.
“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer if the State Security Service until further notice.”
Operatives of the DSS had in the early hours of Tuesday blocked the entrance to the National Assembly, preventing senators, members of the House of Representatives and staff from entering the premises.
When challenged, they said they were operating based on orders from above.
