The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, declared Fayemi the winner of the election on Sunday morning.
To win the election, Fayemi won in 14 of the state’s 16 local government areas, while his main rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, won in four local government areas.
While Fayemi scored a total of 197,465 votes, Olusola, the incumbent Deputy Governor and candidate of Governor Ayo Fayose, polled 178,514 votes.
