The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Monday Igbuya, has been impeached, Tribune newspaper online is reporting.
Igbuya was impeached on Thursday morning.
The highly authoritative newspaper said Igbuya’s impeachment was reportedly signed by 22 out of the 29 members of the House.
Igbuya has since been replaced with the lawmaker representing Okpe Constituency, Sheriff Oborevwori.
The reason for Igbuya’s impeachment, the newspaper said, could not be ascertained as of press time.
But Sheriff, it said, has been introduced to State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, as the new Speaker.
