The Independent National Electoral Commission has said it does not recognise the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Cross Rivers States for the rescheduled general elections taking place on Saturday.
The elections are for the Senate and House of Representatives.
Announcing the position of the Commission, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Cross River State, Dr. Frankland Briyai, said the names of the candidates submitted by the APC in the state would be removed.
Briyai told newsmen in Calabar on Friday evening that the decision followed an order of court with suit number FHC/CA/CS/731/2018 between Godwin Etim John vs the APC and others.
He said the logo and names of the APC would be retained pending the submission of the list of candidates produced by the the Godwin Etim John-led State Executive by the party’s National Working Committee as ordered by the court.
