The Code of Conduct Tribunal on Thursday defended the jurisdiction of the agency to try the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen.
The Chairman of the CCT, Danladi Umar, while ruling on the jurisdiction of the Tribunal to try Onnoghen, said the constitution empowers the Tribunal to try the suspended CJN.
According to Umar, it is well established in the constitution that the Code of Conduct Tribunal is not under the authority of the NJC.
The chairman noted that the CCT is not under the authority of NJC and Federal Civil Service Commission.
