The Presidential Campaign Rally of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, in Jos on Saturday was marred by uncontrollable group of hoodlums.
The presidential rally became disorganized even before the arrival of Buhari, who was earlier in Niger State for the same purpose.
This follows an announcement by the MC and Director General of the Industrial Training Fund, Sir Joseph Ari, that security agents should stop pushing youths at the campaign ground.
Our Correspondent reports that immediately the announcement was made, there were a heavy stampede, leading to the pulling down of the presidential podium.
Many journalists became scared of the reactions and ran out of the stadium.
Even those that were transmitting live for radio and television stations could no longer do so as they found it difficult controlling their cameras and other recording gadgets.
On arrival of President Buhari and other dignitaries at the stadium, the environment become more disorganised to the extend that the event was cut short as they were not even able to address the gathering.
The President was smuggled out of the stadium using exit routes behind the stadium.
Those who reacted to the development said it was a shameful outing, describing it as waste of resources and energy as the President was not able to speak to those there.
The Police had earlier announced that in order to ensure a hitch-free visit of President Buhari to Plateau State, it had provided water-tight security.
DSP Terna Tyopev, the Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Command, said the Commissioner, Austin I. Agbonlahor, has deployed 2,050 police officers and men to carry out the assignment.
Tyopev said: “One hundred and thirty two (132) officers, four hundred and thirty nine (439) Inspectors, one thousand four hundred and twelve (1412) Rank and File and sixty seven (67) Traffic Wardens making the sum total above.”
