The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has won the first announced result from a local government area in the state in Saturday’s governorship election by a landslide.
The Independent National Electoral Commission conducted Governorship and House of Assembly polls on Saturday.
Zulum, the incumbent, took Monguno Local Government Area with 17,187 votes, while his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mohammed Jajari, scored 280 votes.
The candidates of the Labour Party and New Nigerian Peoples Party polled zero votes.
Borno State has 27 local government areas.
