Police searched Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez’s cars at Barcelona airport after someone phoned in a bomb threat.
A sniffer dog was seen searching Suarez’s Audi in the private plane parking section of El Prat airport Tuesday, after a caller reported a suspicious package underneath.
It is understood that Messi’s car was also searched, but nothing was found in either of them.
The Barcelona stars are currently on holiday together with their wives, where they were posing for pictures while the search was going on.
Police said both vehicles were confirmed to be “clean” and described the bomb scare as a false alarm.
A spokesperson from the Catalan local police said: “It was a notice that we received and when they [the police] arrived they saw that it was false.
“It was a false alarm and that’s it.”
A picture of the pair on holiday shows Suarez and Messi lying down on a yacht in the sun and clearly enjoying the off-season.
Suarez is scheduled to go back to training camp with Barcelona on July 31.
Messi is scheduled to return to face Arsenal at the Camp Nou on August 4.
