Suspected members of dreaded sect, Boko Haram, on Wednesday struck in Rann, the headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government Area of Borno State.
In the attack, they killed five policemen and detonated several Improvised Explosive Devices.
The Boko Haram members were said to have come for the operation on motorcycles.
During the attack, the also invaded the official residence of the Caretaker Committee Chairman of the council, Central Primary School and Government Lodge.
They equally destroyed the masts belonging to major telecommunications firms – MTN, Glo and Airtel.
Names of some of the policemen killed were given as Corporal Emmanuel Kwaya, Ishaku Sam, Yahaya Mohammed and two others whose names were withheld.
